Dada Performs Marriage in Australia

by Pranakrsnananda on 15 Jan 10

On January 10, 2010, A’c. Pranakrsnananda Avadhuta conducted the Ananda Marga marriage ceremony as prescribed in Caryacarya Part 1 for Jayadiipa and Journey. Both women are very active and serious members of Ananda Marga for many years. 250 people attended the ceremony. There were people from various spiritual traditions attending as well as friends and family. It was a marvelous event.

Blessings to you Dada, for this most beautiful act of service to the growing community of Spiritfest. We all know what a brave act this was and I am astounded that in this day and age it had to be a courageous act.
For me, the fundamental energy to any form of Spirtuality is Love and Acceptance……any deviation from this tenet, no matter what the motivation or intention, is contrary to Spiritual Teachings spanning this entire planet since time out of mind.
Spiritual leaders or Spirtual scriptures which condone the abuse of any Being, through discrimination in thought, action or deed needs to be examined carefully. We cannot chant “Baba Nam Ke Valam” which in my understanding means “Infinite Love is All There Is” and still support an organisation that would discriminate against a Being because of his or her choices as regards who they choose to love.
The wisdom of the sage who founded Ananda Marga cannot be denied, however, in my opinion, his followers defile his memory by allowing this vast organisation to continue to disriminate against homosexuals and lesbians. Did he condone this discrimination? I hope not.
This blight on his great teachings, is indeed a shame, as all the members of Ananda Marga I know are the most loving and accepting people I know, and I am nourished and my life is enhanced by their presence in it.
I look forward to attending your workshop in Sydney tomorow and send you my deepest respect and warm salutations.
Blessings and love,
Anique

It seems to me that our only responsibility is to love and to serve. To judge others on a moral level is not our business… best leave that to “higher authority” … We may at times evaluate behavior in so far as it might hurt others, but… I have never known a relationship based on committed love to be dangerous in any manner whatsoever… rather, the opposite is true.

I too commend Dada on his courage to stand by his convictions and values, and to reaffirm the highest and most noble aspects of spirituality. Bravo!
